A Memorial project tracking language change in Petty Harbour was profiled on Global National television news on Tuesday, September 8. The piece included interviews with community members and researchers from the Memorial University Sociolinguistics Laboratory. See the Changing Accent segment on Global National. The project, titled "Urbanization and Rapid Change in Newfoundland English", uses the community's change from a relatively isolated fishing community to a near-suburb of St. John's to investigate the effect of such changes on local language features. More information is available on the lab's website: http://musl.ling.mun.ca/rapid_change.html.
